Metzler Asset Management

At the heart of Metzler lies the Frankfurt-based bank B. Metzler seel. Sohn & Co. AG, Germany's oldest private bank with a tradition of unbroken family ownership for more than 345 years. Metzler Asset Management, one of Metzler Bank’s four core divisions, provides investment services for institutional clients. Based on an intensive exchange with investors about goals and risks, Metzler experts design tailored solutions for individual client groups that are sustainable in the long term. These include well conceived, individual portfolio management concepts as well as efficient and secure administrative solutions.

Sustainability has played an important role at Metzler Asset Management GmbH for more than 20 years now, and the company has been a signatory of the UN Principles of Responsible Investment (UN PRI) since 2012. Our asset managers put full ESG integration into practice in a multi-stage process for all fundamentally managed, discretionary equity, bond and multi-asset funds. Metzler sustainability funds are classified in accordance with Article 8 of the EU Disclosure Regulation. For institutional mandates, the multi-layered, client-specific requirements for sustainable capital investing are taken into account and tailored at all times to the individually desired risk-return profile of the portfolio. The share of sustainable investments in assets under management now stands at 61% and accounts for EUR 31.7 billion (as of August 31, 2021).

Metzler Global Ethical Values A

ISIN: DE000A2QGBH0

As of October 1, 2021

The assets selected for the Metzler Global Ethical Values A fund are intended to track the Global Ethical Values Index (GEVX) while maintaining an appropriate risk mix. The GEVX systematically takes ecological and social criteria into account as well as criteria for responsible corporate governance (ESG criteria). One aspired environmental sustainability goal is to reduce CO2 emissions in relation to the parent index, the Solactive GBS Developed Markets Large & Mid Cap stock index (ISIN: DE000SLA41B6).

The benchmark Global Ethical Values Index (GEVX) was launched in September of 2021. The GEVX is a global equity index designed by the Hannover Stock Exchange in cooperation with the sustainability rating agency MSCI ESG Research, the index provider Solactive AG, the NKI - Institut für Nachhaltige Kapitalanlagen and Metzler Asset Management GmbH.

The mutual fund Metzler Global Ethical Values (ISIN: DE000A2QGBH0) by Metzler Asset Management GmbH is characterized by the following features:

  • Climate-related ESG criteria that significantly reduce the carbon footprint
  • Strict ESG criteria laid down by ethically motivated investors are taken into account
  • Classification according to Article 9 of the EU Disclosure Regulation
  • An index-tracking fund – a joint project of Metzler Asset Management, Börse Hannover, NKI - Institut für nachhaltige Kapitalanlagen, Solactive AG and MSCI ESG Research.

The procedure for selecting companies from the investment universe of the parent index has three stages:

  • Application of strict ethical norms and values of the Catholic and Protestant churches in Germany, the Catholic church in Austria and the "Österreichisches Umweltzeichen 49”
  • Best-in-class and best-in-progress selection that identifies companies with high ESG quality
  • Intelligent index optimization that enables a virtually neutral mapping of region and sector weights compared to the parent index.
