The basis for the certification of a product/service are guidelines with binding criteria. They are drawn up with the involvement of environmental and technical experts and revised every four years. The "life cycle approach" is applied: The environmental impact of use, manufacture and disposal is taken into account. The same applies to raw material and energy consumption, toxicity of the ingredients, emissions (exhaust gases, waste water, noise, etc.), waste and recyclability, packaging, distribution and transport.
