European Commission survey on the Product Environmental Footprint

The PEF is a harmonised life cycle analysis that the European Commission wants to use to fight greenwashing. However, purely quantitative analyses such as the PEF cannot solve the problem of greenwashing in the view of the BMK. Now the Commission is inviting companies to participate in a survey on the possible or actual use of the PEF.

Especially for companies that use a state Ecolabel, calculating the PEF would be an additional effort, although the documented compliance with the respective Ecolabel criteria already documents the high level of environmental protection of their awarded products. Link to the survey
