klimaaktiv mobil starts a new round: 60 Mobichecks are financed by the klimaaktiv mobil mobility management program for children and young people.
With one third of the total energy consumption, the transport sector is one of the main causes of climate change in Austria. Especially in view of the increasingly urgent problems and challenges, children and young people are one of the most important target groups. Mobility behavior as an adult is significantly shaped by experiences during childhood and adolescence. Two thirds of children and young people already travel in a climate-friendly manner. This needs to be strengthened and further developed. There are two levers for this: infrastructure and awareness raising.
Mobility management for children and young people should build a bridge from awareness raising in schools and kindergartens to infrastructure. The basic decree on the teaching principle of traffic and mobility education gives educators the opportunity to actively incorporate climate protection, mobility and health into their lessons.
Within the framework of klimaaktiv mobil, kindergartens and schools have the opportunity to highlight mobility behavior and possibilities for improvement at the respective educational institution. They receive support for the mobility survey and a Mobicheck box with a variety of teaching and action ideas. In addition, as part of the special funding, there is the possibility of a financial cost subsidy for a wide variety of climate-friendly mobility projects such as the construction of a scooter parking facility or the implementation of a mobility workshop. Participating educational institutions can network with each other at two short seminars. At the end of the year, the implemented activities are evaluated and the CO2 saved is calculated. Kindergartens, elementary schools, junior high schools, senior high schools and after-school care centers can participate.
