Sustainable school shopping with the UmweltTipp!
For pupils and parents, the school year begins with the procurement of numerous necessary school supplies. Purchases need to be carefully considered in order to save money and ensure sustainability.
The Climate Protection Ministry's "Clever shopping for school" initiative and the Austrian Ecolabel support pupils and parents in making environmentally friendly purchases. To mark the start of school, Austria's top campaign is sending out a clear signal for sustainable school shopping with many products. From June 1 to September 30, many specialist paper stores and branches of the cooperation partners will be using the "UmweltTipp!" ("Environmental Tip!") to draw attention to environmentally friendly school articles on the shelves or in the sales area.
Support from the local specialist paper trade
This year, the Climate Protection Ministry's "Clever shopping for school" initiative is once again promoting an information focus on environmentally friendly school articles in stores in cooperation with many specialist paper stores and the major chain stores PAGRO DISKONT, LIBRO, THALIA, INTERSPAR and SKRIBO retailers. Specialist advice is provided to help parents and pupils buy environmentally friendly products.
Sustainable shopping with the UmweltTipp!
The UmweltTipp! helps with the purchase of environmentally friendly products. There is a wide range of exercise books, paper, paints, craft sheets, school bags, writing utensils and much more. It is worth paying attention to quality, durability and reparability. This is easy on the wallet. In the case of sustainable and climate-friendly items, care is also taken to ensure that they contain as few harmful substances as possible. This year, there are already 6,200 school articles recommended with the UmweltTipp! The product list is updated annually and can be found online at www.schuleinkauf.at.
Guaranteed environmentally friendly with the Austrian Ecolabel
Notebooks and pads with the Austrian Ecolabel, for example, have a demonstrably strong environmental bonus. No trees have to be felled for this paper, which is made from 100 percent recycled paper. This means that around 60 percent less energy and 70 percent less water is consumed.
With glue sticks, it pays to make sure that the adhesive itself accounts for at least as much of the product as the packaging. Small packaged portions are also usually more expensive.
