Vöslauer bottle (Vöslauer)

New 0,5l reusable glass bottle from Vöslauer for on the road

As an option to the millions of disposable plastic bottles, a new 0.5 litre reusable glass bottle is now finally available in stores. Environmental awareness and customer satisfaction are the basis of the latest packaging innovation: the 0.5-liter glass bottle, which has been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel for its reusable system.

As early as 2014, the market leader in the Austrian mineral water market set a sustainable accent for the retail trade with the re-introduction of the 8x1 litre returnable glass bottle in the practical Split Box. Customers are now showing more and more environmental and quality awareness and are consciously opting for drinks from the high-quality glass bottle. Vöslauer's latest packaging innovation is the 0.5 litre returnable glass bottle, which was awarded the Austrian Ecolabel even before its market launch. The sustainable bottles are transported in the new 8x0.5 litre crate, which is only made of recycled material.

"The trend towards returnable glass bottles is clearly continuing and they are also in increasing demand by our consumers. We have been observing this since the introduction of our 8x1 litre returnable glass bottle more than five years ago", explains Vöslauer's managing director Mag. Birgit Aichinger. "As market leader in the deposit sector, it was important for us to also offer a container for the smaller thirst on the go. The digital lifestyle requires products that are geared towards mobility and fit the lifestyle of tomorrow's consumer. To meet these demands, we have designed our new 0.5-litre returnable glass bottle," says Aichinger. The new bottle was presented at the opening ceremony of the new glass filling plant at the Bad Vöslau site.

Award of the Austrian Ecolabel for the new 0.5-liter returnable glass bottle

CEO DI Herbert Schlossnikl officially received the Austrian Ecolabel for the 0.5 litre glass reusable bottle for the retail trade. After the Vöslau gastronomy containers, which received the Ecolabel in 2013, another innovative container now counts among the awarded bottles. "We are delighted that our latest innovation, the 0.5 litre returnable glass bottle for the retail trade, can now also carry the eco-label," says Schlossnikl, delighted and proud. The Austrian Eco-label serves as a signpost for environmentally friendly and sustainable products and services. It also stands for quality and durability.

Sustainably transported

True to the motto "all or nothing at all", the highest value was also placed on sustainability in two respects for the transport crate. On the one hand with the material, because the crate consists of 100 percent recycled material from the yellow bin or sack. In addition, attention was paid during the design phase to matching the height of the crate and the glass bottles so that volume and space can be optimally used during transport, thus conserving resources. "We want to transport goods and not air," says Schlossnikl in a nutshell.

The introduction of the new 8x0.5 litre returnable glass bottle will give a lasting boost to the market for returnable containers in Austria. However, such a major product launch in the glass convenience sector requires a certain lead time and good planning. The 0.5-liter glass refillable bottle was successively introduced regionally from July onwards in the sparkling and lemon varieties, and rolled out throughout Austria by 2020.

"We like to set an example in terms of environmentally conscious and resource-conserving management, and with the new 0.5-liter returnable glass bottle, which is not yet available in this form on the Austrian mineral water market, we have once again succeeded in doing so," Aichinger concluded.
