Benefits and effects of the Austrian Ecolabel

The benefits and effects of the Austrian Ecolabel are very different and diverse depending on the guideline and product. Get suggestions from our experts and exemplary companies!

The green world of the Ecolabel

It is 30 years since the Hundertwasser logo was established as the Austrian Ecolabel. 30 years in which a lot has happened and the Ecolabel has left clear green traces.

The focus on people

The Austrian Ecolabel has made the issue of sustainability in our industry a personal experience for organisers and participants. With the Austrian Ecolabel, the Congress Centrum Alpbach has successfully established itself as a green meeting destination. My personal environmental tip: You can push the energy efficiency of a building to the limit, you can use the best regional products and also optimise the travel logistics, you can have the most sophisticated waste management concept and all kinds of certifications and at the same time make a serious mistake: Forgetting the people who are behind all these measures.

Austria is a responsible and attractive tourism destination

Today's guests expect not only quality but also sustainable management and responsible use of natural resources. The strict guidelines of the Austrian Ecolabel not only create transparency and thus orientation for our guests - they also make an important contribution to positioning Austria as a responsible and attractive holiday destination.
Petra Stolba, Austrian National Tourist Office

Harmony of nature and art

Friedensreich Hundertwasser is not only one of the most successful Austrian artists, but was also a pioneer in the field of ecology and sustainability. Hundertwasser experimented with green roofs and placed trees in facades. With the Austrian Ecolabel, he united our deep longing for an art that is not uniform.

Green congresses are possible!

The Austrian Ecolabel has created awareness: among organisers, who are awarded for their environmentally conscious and sustainable actions, and thus also among participants. Therefore, it is particularly important for us as a certification body to inspire our organisers to hold green meetings. My personal environmental tip: Holding large international congresses as Green Meetings is of course a special challenge. But if everyone involved acts in concert - especially the venue, caterers and stand builders - it can be done.
