IMA Award Alpbach

Ecolabel companies are winners: Congress Centrum Alpbach receives IMA Award

The Congress Center Alpbach was honored for its outstanding achievements in sustainable conference and event culture with the IMA Award from the interest group of fair trade and live marketing specialists in Austria.

With Green Meetings to international success

On October 20, 2014, the Congress Centrum Alpbach (www.congressalpbach.com) received the first IMA Award for its outstanding achievements in sustainable conference and event culture as an eco-label Green Meeting licensee in a solemnly ceremony at Studio 44 in Vienna.

Managing Director Georg Hechenblaikner accepted the award on behalf of his entire team, but also took pride in welcoming the local companies and residents. In conversation with I.M.Austria CEO Christine Opitz, he showed the Alpbacher Weg. Since the construction of the new building under the motto of "360° green", a cautious embedding in the village on the one hand and sustainability and environmental protection on the other hand. Initially, the people of Alpbach and the customers were skeptical about the modern new building, especially since "sustainability" was still an empty phrase for many at the time. Over the years, however, it became apparent that the concept was beneficial, not only to the Congress Center itself but also to the entire region: it brought numerous new customers to Alpbach and strengthened the location for the financial crisis. Today, the Congress Center is certified with the Austrian Environmental Label for Green Meetings and the Green Globe - an international building certification that is primarily known to German customers - and conducts all events as "Green Meetings". Encouraged by the outstanding customer feedback, further improvement measures are implemented on an ongoing basis.

The highlight of the Congress Center is the annual European Forum Alpbach (EFA), whose CEO Philippe Narval praised the good cooperation in his speech, which without this prestigious event would not have become what it is today - hosting innovative dialogue for 4000 participants from around the world. The European Forum Alpbach wants to bring people together across borders and cultural differences, and currently focuses on promoting young leaders. The Green Meeting Initiative of the Congress Center is also well received by the participants of the EFA every year.

Following the award ceremony, the 9th Industry Talk took place live in the trade magazine fair and event, during which the topic of Green Events and Green Meetings was once again discussed in illustrious form.
